Welcome to Authentic Connection

My name is Rachel. I am a pluralistic therapist, based in Maghull, Merseyside.

Offering accredited face to face, telephone and online Counselling, and Hypnotherapy.

What to expect from therapy

Personal Therapy can be a life changing experience. Together we will navigate through challenges, explore new insights and work towards your goals.

My Role is to support you every step of the way and provide a safe space for you to explore your thoughts and emotions. Your journey is unique and i am here to help you to discover the tools and strategies that work best for you.

I'm a pluralistic therapist, and I'm all about embracing diversity and individuality in therapy. Therapy is like a toolbox, and I've got lots of different tools. But instead of just using one tool for every job, I believe in helping you pick the right tools for you. Because let's face it, everyone's different, and what works for one person might not work for another.

When you work with me, we'll chat about what you need and what you're comfortable with. Together, we'll figure out the best approach for you, whether it's talking things out, trying new tools, or maybe even getting creative with art or writing. It's all about finding what clicks for you, so you can feel empowered and make progress in your own unique way.

I work with people from all walks of life and backgrounds, coming to me with a diverse range of problems. As a fully-qualified therapist I am a member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), and abide by their code of ethics

Speak in confidence

Therapy takes place in a safe space, where you can meet with me and i will listen with sensitivity and empathy – and without judgement. In the therapy space thoughts and feelings can be expressed freely and in confidence.

A problem shared

Many people face difficulties in their everyday lives that can be hard to get on top of. Therapy gives us a set of tools we can use to help gain a better understanding of what’s causing these problems – and how you can move towards managing or resolving them.

Make better, healthier new choices

Working together I can help you gain greater insight into the difficulties you are facing, help you understand why you act or react to them the way you do, and see how you can start to make better, heathier choices moving forward.

What issues can therapy help with?

People come to me for help with a wide range of issues. Here are a few common difficulties that can be supported through therapy:

Depression

Anxiety

Stress at work

Problems with confidence or self-esteem

Anger management

Issues relating to sexuality

Problems with family or school life

Panic attacks

Relationship problems

Grief, loss or bereavement

Problems with addiction

Trauma and post-traumatic stress

"Rachel was instrumental in helping me through a difficult patch, making me realise how my unhelpful thoughts were disrupting my life and helped set me on the right path with useful tools and guidance that have enabled me to turn things around. Next time things get difficult, I'll have the right coping strategies in place. Thanks again for all your help."

"Rachel is very calm and helped me carefully unpick why I was feeling anxious and overwhelmed a lot of the time. She helped give me much-needed perspective and allowed me to identify some behaviours that were not serving me and strategies to move away from them. She provided some really useful worksheets that will be a great resource going forward."

"Rachel is the first therapist I have seen and has really supported me in my journey to be more self aware, reflect on my feelings and the way I was living my life. She listened attentively and patiently and through discussion, her knowledge and suggestions have provided me with the tools I need to manage my challenges myself. i feel more confident that I can now better identify when a challenging time might be affecting me emotionally and I am much better equipped to reflect and act on it before things snowball. With Rachel's help I have identified my own personal tool kit of things that bring me joy and benefit me, as a result its given me a stronger foundation for when the next challenge arises. I feel positive again and more like my old self. Therapy was an emotional experience but one that I'm so glad I embarked on. Thank you Rachel""

"I reached out when I was separated from my wife. I was in a dark place. I was depressed and thought I wasn't good enough for my wife or my children. I couldn't see things ever getting better and was thinking of ending my life. I spoke to Rachel and she gave me some clarity straight away. We talked through what was going on and how I was feeling. Using some helpful information Rachel sent me to have a look at and think about between sessions. I soon started to understand why i was feeling the way I was. I started to see clearly what I was struggling with; I was judging myself so heavily and focusing only on the negative parts of every situation and interaction. Rachel is a huge part of the reason I'm still here. I cannot thank her enough for her help and support through the toughest time of my life. I would strongly recommend her to anyone in need of help. She was also very accommodating to my busy schedule. Thank you Rachel"
